Presentation
The LRTH research activities are focused on two main items:
- the large-scale refrigeration for fusion and accelerator projects
- the hydrodynamics for turbulence at very high Reynolds number in superfluid or normal helium,

These two domains benefit from our refrigeration facility, the so-called “station 400W@1.8K” and its multi-test cryostat (CMT). Two platforms with specific cryogenic instrumentation offer tests capacity with supercritical helium flow (HELIOS) and superfluid helium (SHREK). The laboratory relies also on thermal-hydraulics simulations developed for a better understanding of the physics observed in the experiments but also for optimization purposes of the refrigeration process.
